Presentation of results of Merco Responsibility and Corporate Governance Costa Rica 2020
Merco Costa Rica has presented this Wednesday, February 24, the 4th edition of the Merco Responsibility and Corporate Governance monitor, in which it has been announced which are the 100 most responsible companies with the best corporate governance in Costa Rica in 2020. The results are born fruit of the analysis of 1,196 surveys, 4 evaluations and 8 sources of information. Not in vain, Merco has had the participation of 224 executives, 37 financial analysts, 36 economic information journalists, 31 heads of NGOs, 35 of unions, 33 of consumer associations and 800 consumers. And together with the analysis of these surveys, the results of the special ranking carried out have been taken into account to analyze which companies have been most responsible during the period of the pandemic.
The most responsible companies with the best corporate governance in Costa Rica in 2020
In 2020, the same three companies maintain their positions on the podium as in 2019: Florida Ice and Farm (1st), Auto Mercado (2nd) and Cooperativa de Productores de Leche Dos Pinos (3rd). They complete the top ten Grupo Purdy, which rises from 5th to 4th place; Intel Costa Rica, which also rises one position to 5th; BAC Credomatic, in 6th place; Walmart Central America, maintaining the 7th position; Banco Nacional de Costa Rica, which rises from 14th to 8th place; Coca Cola Femsa, in the 9th; and Amazon, which goes from 15th to 10th place.
The 100 ranking is made up of companies from 33 sectors, among which the Food industry stands out, with 17 companies; and Banking, Construction and Real Estate, Personal Care, Pharmaceutical and IT, all of them with 6 companies each.
The most responsible companies during the pandemic
In addition to the general ranking of Merco Responsibility and Corporate Governance Costa Rica 2020, due to the pandemic, the particular performance of the most responsible companies during this period has been evaluated. This classification is headed by the company Walmart Centroamérica (1st), followed by Auto Mercado (2nd), Florida Ice and Farm (3rd), University of Costa Rica (4th), Grupo ICE (5th), Banco Nacional de Costa Rica (6th) ), PriceSmart (7th), Amazon (8th), BAC Credomatic (9th), Uber (10th), Instituto Nacional de Seguros (11th), Grupo Monge (12th), Hospital Clínica Bíblica (13th), Toyota Purdy Motor (14th) , Procter & Gamble (15th), Cooperativa de Productores de Leche Dos Pinos (16th), Coca Cola Femsa (17th), Intel Costa Rica (18th), Microsoft (19th) and Grupo El Angel (20th).
The world's most comprehensive RyGC assessment methodology
The preparation of Merco RyGC Costa Rica 2020 has been carried out by Analysis and Research, the first Spanish market research institute, and the methodology for the elaboration of the ranking of companies with the best reputation has been subject to independent review by KPMG in accordance with the ISAE3000 standard. For this reason, KPMG does not make public its position in this ranking.
