Inditex, Mercadona, Grupo Social Once, Repsol and Iberdrola are the companies with the best reputation in Spain in 2026

Merco, a leading benchmark for its ethical standards and methodology, presented the results of the 26th edition of Merco Companies and Leaders on Tuesday June 23rd, recognising the 200 companies and 100 leaders with the best reputations in 2026.
These studies are the result of an exhaustive and detailed analysis of a total of 64,764 surveys, 7 evaluations and 29 sources of information. The methodology established by Merco for compiling the Merco Companies ranking has been independently reviewed by KPMG. For this reason, KPMG does not disclose its position in this ranking. The 2026 Company Ranking comprises Inditex (1st), Mercadona (2nd), Grupo Social Once (3rd), Repsol (4th), Iberdrola (5th), Caixabank (6th), BBVA (7th), Mapfre (8th), Santander (9th) and Coca-Cola (10th). As for the 2026 Leaders ranking, Juan Roig (Mercadona) retains the top spot for the eighth consecutive year, alongside Ana Botín (Santander), Amancio Ortega (Inditex), Marta Ortega (Inditex), Ignacio Sánchez Galán (Iberdrola), Josu Jon Imaz (Repsol), Pablo Isla (Nestlé), Isidre Fainé Casas (Fundación “La Caixa”), Gonzalo Gortázar (Caixabank) and Antonio Huertas (Mapfre).
As part of its ongoing methodological development and adaptation, Merco has increased its analytical capacity for the third consecutive year by expanding the scope of its assessment from 100 to 200 companies. The 26th edition of Merco Companies was attended by 1,634 executives from large companies, 719 experts from the business world (84 financial analysts, 71 business journalists, 87 business professors, 117 heads of NGOs and social organisations, 72 trade union leaders, 77 heads of consumer associations, 110 members of ‘Government’ and 101 social media managers), 53,020 participants in Merco Talent (workers, university students, business school alumni, university and business school professors, human resources managers, expert headhunters, trade union members and members of the public) and 9,311 members of the public (Merco Society). Alongside these assessments, an analysis is also carried out in the digital sphere of companies (Merco Digital and AI) with a total of 1,048,936 mentions analysed and a benchmarking of objective indicators for 80 companies.
Meanwhile, the Merco Leaders survey involved 1,634 executives from large companies, 90 communications experts, 85 business and financial journalists, 84 financial analysts and 87 business professors. In addition, 378,355 mentions on social media were analysed in collaboration with Nethodology, alongside a benchmarking of objective indicators.
