21/06/2023
This Wednesday, June 21, Merco and Recruiting Erasmus have announced the results of the 6th Edition of Merco University Talent, which includes the 200 best companies to work for in 2022-2023 according to the assessment of university students.
In this sixth edition, the ranking is led by Apple (1st), Amazon (2nd) and Google (3rd). The top ten are completed by Mercadona (4th), Inditex (5th), Santander (6th), Microsoft (7th), Ikea (8th), BBVA (9th) and Mercedes-Benz (10th).
The objective of Merco University Talent is, in addition to pointing out which are, from the perspective of university students, the best companies to work for in Spain, to provide information on the evaluation of students in their last and penultimate year of degree, of the studies completed and of the university's employment services (factors that led them to choose it, degree of satisfaction with it...), their preferences to work (sector, type of company, salary expectations...), and aspects related to the job search (how and where they look for information about companies, what factors are most valued when choosing a company as a place to work...).
Main conclusions
According to this study, university students and higher vocational training students prefer to work in large and multinational companies (regardless of whether they are from Spain or abroad) and with a fixed and more secure salary. Regarding the type of work, they mostly choose stable positions in which autonomy and independence prevail. And they see it as appropriate to receive an average salary of 1,571 euros net per month as soon as they enter the job market, 85 euros more than in 2021/2022.
As for the most important factors when choosing a company as a place to work are: quality of life (flexibility, teleworking...) and good pay and benefits, both with 22%; and a good work environment (15%). On the opposite side, that the company serves as a springboard for other jobs (2%) and that the company has a good reputation (2%).
